Working in Fundraising

We certainly do put the FUN into fundraising here. We work hard but you’ll hear laughter and see smiley faces while we’re doing it.

We like to be bold and creative in coming up with new ideas to help our super supporters raise money. You’ll often see us working with our Friends of Tenovus groups, corporate clients, our bucket collecting or putting on big events like balls and working with our patrons.

It’s not all about doing the big fundraising events though like marathons, cycling, walks and other challenge events out in the big wide world or virtually. We also look to fund a lot of our services with grants and work hard on our lottery, payroll giving, legacy and will campaigns.

So, our fabulous fundraisers have a great attitude to hard work through determination and sprinkle everything with passion for our cause. They inspire everyone around them to keep pushing ahead by getting involved themselves and keeping our supporters safe and motivated along the way. Doing great in this job is really all about teamwork, thinking creatively and being focussed on the filling up the collection buckets creating oodles of fun along the way.

Working in our Services

Working in our services really puts the care into the meaning of Tenovus Cancer Care’s name. You’re out there on the frontline a lot of the time working with our service users at times when they need us the most.

This can be helping someone going through their cancer treatment to get the financial support and help they need in a time of crisis. It may mean being that helping hand to people receiving their cancer treatment on our Mobile Support Unit. It could be uplifting people through song and community by singing in our choirs or that reassuring voice on the end of our Support Line.

Working in our Shops

Our shops are fun and busy places to work in, right at the heart of our communities raising vital funds. A warm welcome and friendly smile is always there for our customers but, putting it simply, it’s our people who make our high street shops work.

A job in one of our shops is all about working with our wonderful volunteers and supporting your team to turn clothes into cash.

We also have opportunities to help out with our Ebay shop. This provides a chance to work with our online sales team who raise important funds alongside our shops. This role may involve researching products and pricing, listing items and taking good photos of a variety of items.

Being part of our retail team means every day is different with the people we meet and the many things that need to be done to make our shops a success.

From steaming clothes to counting the cash and sorting items, there’s also fundraising activities and eye-catching displays that make our high streets sing and put money in the till.

Our retail colleagues don’t just know retail. They know the difference working for a Charity makes to people and places. They know that our cause to help people affected by cancer matters.

If you or someone you love has been affected by cancer, our free Support Line is there for you. Just call 0808 808 1010
